Very limited choice of food with most things being off the menu. Just one option on kids menu. Food was very average, veg poorly cooked and definitely not worth the prices. Service generally rude, grumpy or non existent. Very little atmosphere (the place was pretty much empty). Did serve a decent pint of landlord and the younger staff were doing their best to be helpful in spite of things!

Our first stop on the way of the roses cycle ride. Reception was excellent as was the room. Clapham is a lovely, as good as it gets village. Evening meal was also good and priced well. Breakfast was help yourself and very adequately supplied. I would stop again. The only suggestion I would post for improvement would be to employ another person for the bar on a night felt sorry for the two staff running around trying to do both food and bar, and presence of someone at Breakfast would also be good. Bike storage as well. Overall great though, thank you.

At the foot of the Ingleborough Estate Nature trail. This pretty 18th-century coaching inn in the only pub/hotel in the village Clapham, as such is gets quite busy for food at weekends, and a few things of the menu were already sold out by 7.30pm. The rooms are clean, however the walls are surprisingly thin and unsurprisingly the floorboards are really, really creaky and sound amplifying so you can hear folk entering and walking around their rooms as though they're in your own. Also the WiFi was unusable and stopped for long periods of time. Still, its in a great location and fine for an overnight stay.

Recently stayed here after doing the three peaks challenge. On arrival, Hotels.com had not provided the right information so the hotel thought I only had one room. The lady in charge quickly fixed this and found a room for us after checking my booking confirmation, thought that was excellent. We went up to our rooms which were clean, dry and had tea and coffee facilities. The shower was amazing after walking all day! We went down to eat and this is where it went a bit wrong for me. The lamb shanks, which were the special were all sold out, not a problem, so we ordered a beef burger. Once we had ordered we were told that they don’t have any beef burgers. So ordered fish and chips. After ordering and sitting down we were told that there were no chunky chips and can we have fries instead. Just told them we are hungry, anything will do at this point. The food arrived, we got about 12 chips, the fish was small and anemic, the mushy peas looked about three days old. Did we complain, no, did we send it back, no. We had walked 26 miles and were going to eat whatever they put in front of us. But for the price, the food was poor. There are pictures of a full English breakfast on the reviews. They DONT do them. We were told it was sausage and bacon sandwiches, but they only put bacon out. A clean hotel with nice staff that survives because the demand is there for the area for the walking etc. Not from repeat customers that want to go there again due to the quality.

What happened to this previously agreeable hotel? Over the last year there has been a change of proprietor. The new owners are diabolical. They cancelled our booking by email three days before we were due to arrive. It took 2.5 weeks of persistence to achieve the refund from their Indian call centre. Still we await further refund money. Keep well clear of this dreadful venue.
