we are new to motorhome life, this was only our 2nd weekend away. What a find!!! We had a lovely welcome by both the owners, who gave us local information and took us to our pitch. A quiet site in peaceful countryside. The showers and toilets were super super clean , the shower was hot and a proper bar shower not the push button type. Previously being campers I have to say the loos and showers were by far the best we’ve ever used. Directly opposite the site is a pub with good food and Leyburn is 3 miles up the road. We will definately be returning. 2 nights wasn’t long enough!
Just home from a wonderful week here. Friendly welcome on arrival from Barbara and Tony and given a choice of pitches as the site was pretty quiet. Most on site are seasonal caravans. Had a chat with a few of the "residents" who have been on site for many years, very friendly and helpful. The location is brilliant for days out around the area. No matter whether you like walking, shopping, visiting historic sites, there's plenty to do. The site is not adult only but it doesn't really cater for children and was one of the reasons we chose it. Balls games not welcome. The facilities are not very modern but they are certainly the cleanest we've visited this year, I usually have to clean up after someone who has used them before me but no need here. Lovely hot water for showers, nice warm room no matter what time you use the facilities. My only gripe is there were no private wash cubicles if you fancied a flannel wash rather than a shower. There is a family room and an accessible room and fortunately being near the end of the season these were often free to use (although I usually feel guilty using facilities like this) but I imagine they are pretty busy at peak season. There is a building with washing facilities (clothes and cooking stuff) that had a separate wash area for men and women within it.....IMO this could easily be converted in to 4-6 private unisex wash cubicles. I would definitely go again but maybe not for a whole week due to the facilities (and there's no water at the pitches but we coped fine with that). Try and get a pitch away from the road as that did get a little noisy at times (we were far enough away for it not to bother us), the main noise was from the pheasants which were in abundance. The pub across the road Wyvill Arms, is delightful. Not the cheapest but if food is good we don't mind paying. Great service too just sorry we left our first visit too late to be able to call in again. Would recommend a car if visiting as most places are a reasonable drive out. Worth investing in an English Heritage membership too.
Great site - very quiet, clean and well managed. Only a few touring spots but it worked well for us, one night on the way to Scotland. Pub opposite which serves lovely food. About 10 minutes off A1.
Great caravan site (pitches, showers, staff etc) BUT the permanent pitches seem to think it is okay to mow their own “lawns”. So a peaceful sunny afternoon is constantly interrupted by the whirring motors of underpowered lawnmowers pushed around and around, ruining the grass and making a nuisance. The owners already cut the grass to a very tidy length. I just don’t understand such inconsiderate behaviour from the seniors here. 🤷🏻♂️
Very helpful and friendly staff that took us in as our booking elsewhere vanished and found a genuine pitch for us so well done and stayed 6 days
