I’ve used Enterprise before — usually at other branches — and always had a great experience. Unfortunately, this visit was completely different because of the lady who seemed to be the branch manager (I didn’t catch her name). She was quite rude and seemed dishonest throughout the process, even though the intern, Ella, was genuinely helpful and professional. My experience started after an accident when I needed a replacement car. Enterprise told me they had a car similar in size to mine and asked me to pick it up before 18:00 that day. The gentleman who called said it would be an automatic, which was fine as long as it was a similar size. When I arrived (after taking a taxi), they gave me a large SUV — a Mazda - manual. I explained that I was expecting a smaller car, but they said none were available, even though there was an A-Class outside (automatic) that looked perfect. They told me to come back the next day at 15:00 for a smaller car. When I returned, the car still wasn’t ready, and I ended up waiting another hour. Eventually, they gave me a Nissan Juke — still an SUV. When I mentioned this to the manager (there were 3 smaller cars on site at this time) she insisted she couldn’t provide a different size “based on what she was told,” even though all the cars she offered were larger than mine. Ironically, the Juke was actually smaller than my original car, but at that point, I decided to just let it go. I am guessing she wanted to give me a larger car so that she can charge more the insurance company - which is pathetic. What really bothered me was how she behaved during our conversation — she was typing on her computer the whole time while talking to me, barely making eye contact, as if I was interrupting her. It gave the impression she was more interested in appearing busy than actually listening or helping. Because of this attitude, I ended up buying the optional insurance even though I’m a careful driver — she made me feel like she’d find any excuse to charge me extra. Maybe it’s just how she treats all customers, or maybe it’s because I’m from a different nationality — either way, it was a disappointing experience. On a positive note, Ella, the intern, deserves credit for being kind and patient throughout. She was the only one who made the experience somewhat better. If you’re renting from Enterprise, I’d definitely recommend the Wheatley branch instead — they’ve always treated me much better there.
Charlie explained the process well. Walked me around the car and fully explained my options around hire charge extras. His approach was reassuring especially as I needed the hire car after my car had been damaged. I was offered a lift home after drop off which was very helpful. Car was clean and petrol tank was full which helped me get straight away to work
Booked a van last minute, no issues with the website and availability of the van from the pick-up location. On the morning of our hire date got a call to say that there wasn’t a van available and we needed to cancel the booking. I advised that we would lose £40 if we cancelled the booking but was reassured that they would correct this as it wasn’t of our doing. Finally got the £40 pounds back over 6 weeks later after 2 online conversations and several emails. Won’t be going back there no matter how cheap they are, shout out to Doncaster van centre for coming to the rescue and getting us a van.
What a joke. Showed up early to make sure all paperwork can be done before the rental starts to be told the Luton van I rented isn’t here. was told to wait so waited 30min to then be told the van isn’t going to be here until 2pm (rental started at 12) so we went home (bare in my mind I had a 9m old baby with me so dragging him back and forth and waiting this long isn’t ideal..) Then got a message saying rental starts at 2pm so we got there just to find out the van isn’t here and won’t be for another half an hour. Waited another half an hour, no van. The customer returned it almost at 3pm (3.5hrs after their supposed return time), had to wait until they do all the checks which was supposed to be take 5-10min, it took 20 (I did all the check in online which didn’t speed up the process at all). Asked for a discount due to the rental starting late and I still had to drop off the van at 12 as per original booking. Got a reduction of £10.. by the time I got home with a van through afternoon traffic we were forced to move in the dark. As much as it is the other customer’s fault for being late, enterprise is a big enough company to have a back up in case things like this happen. Unfortunately this branch didn’t have anything to offer except ‘wait’ and waste my time driving back and forth. Not impressed.
I recently rented a car from Enterprise for 9 days and was given a 2025 Ford Puma, a fantastic vehicle that exceeded my expectations. I drove it for over 750 miles without any issues, and the experience was smooth from start to finish. The customer service was outstanding throughout, especially from Georgia at the Doncaster branch, who was incredibly helpful, friendly, and professional. Her assistance truly made the rental process seamless and enjoyable. Highly recommended, I wouldn’t hesitate to use Enterprise again in the future.
