Terrific B&B.... Deb and Bri are great hosts... nothing is too much trouble. Breakfasts were fresh and perfectly cooked, served in the room for privacy. Rooms are well appointed and very comfortable, and the location (and views) spectacular! 5 stars all round!

Alum House is a very old building that has been beautifully restored and decorated. Deb, the hostess, made us feel very welcome and our room was beautiful, with a suntrap outside - complete with a hot tub. Breakfasts were yummy and served in our room. My wife mentioned that she was looking for plant nurseries and Deb kindly gave us directions to a couple - the one we visited, near Whitby, was like nothing I have seen before, and well worth the visit. We can't recommend Alum House highly enough.

Alum House really is the most perfect b&b. From the minute you arrive you are made to feel special and nothing is too much trouble Deb & Bri are the perfect hosts. I stayed in the Stables which is a lovely big room with a log burner, a sofa and the comfiest bed ever. The bathroom is lovely with a stand alone bath and separate rain shower. The room also has its own private terrace with patio doors leading onto it from the bedroom. This room also has views of the beautiful garden and in the distance the sea. Everywhere is spotless and facilities are great. Breakfasts are amazing with a fab choice all freshly cooked for you and brought to your room where there is a table & chairs situated by the window , so its breakfast with a view The supper menu is good value for money and I can recommend the chicken skewers but be warned Debs portions are huge and again this is brought to your room Location is perfect, 5 mins walk and you're on the Cleveland Way and the clifftop views are stunning all the way to Staithes. I was a single traveller and I can honestly say I felt completely relaxed and Deb and Bri will take time to talk without being intrusive. All in all this is just the most wonderful b&b and I think my bank manager is going to hate me as it's going to be my favourite escape to place. Thank you for the most wonderful 2 nights

My partner and I spent a superb long weekend here as the guests of Debbie and Brian in their immaculate farmhouse conversion. The accommodation was meticulous in its detail, and every possible convenience had been thought out with careful and considered attention. The hot-tub is a must with sea-views and no road noise whatsoever. Breakfast was delivered to the room and it was superb every morning. An excellent choice was on offer with the option of evening meals if required along with home-made truffles and cake. The farmhouse is simple to locate, has ample parking and is within walking distance of several good pubs and restaurants if you utilise the Cleveland way which is right outside. All in all, look no further!

We had such a lovely stay at the Alum House suite. Our room was immaculate, comfortable and so luxurious. The bed was the most comfortable ever!!!! with sumptuous bedding and pillows. Our room had a hot tub in it's own secluded terrace which was very relaxing and lovely to use. There are chairs and tables on the terrace so you can take a cuppa out or even have your breakfast there. Our breakfast was served in our room and was delicious, beautifully presented and plentiful. They have another room, called The Forge, where you can sit and chill out with an honesty bar which has a great supply of drinks. We had food off the Supper Board served in there, the food was delicious. Local fish served beautifully. There's also a selection of games. It's a lovely cosy room and perfect if you don't want to venture out. Debbie is the perfect host and can't do enough to make your stay perfect. We found homemade treats to eat after our walk, the tea and coffee facilities in the room are high quality with fresh milk available, a selection of teas and a Nespresso machine. Can highly recommend.
