We had the best stay at Yurtshire, it was pure escapism. The kids loved the novelty of the yurt and hot tub and we were blessed with such gorgeous weather. The facilities surpassed our expectations as the yurt was so well kitted out. The guy that runs the place was great with the children and had lots of really good recommendations for nearby attractions. Would highly recommend and looking forward to a return visit in October!
This was our first glamping trip and was very enjoyable. A stove made the yurt very cosy, it had a great shower, and the mattress was comfy (though it may need flipping as I slid into the middle during the night). We really enjoyed the hot tub! The site had a "back to nature" feeling but with a few mod cons. Some kitchen items need replacing but nothing show stopping. The walk to/from the yurt is very steep but staff can help transport luggage with a 'golf buggy' which we made use of. A lovely break and we would happily return!
We stayed for two nights at Yurtshire, the check is process was easy and the lady on reception helped us with our bags. The booking team were also great! The location is gorgeous and close to National Trust attractions including Brimham Rocks and Fountains Abbey. The Yurt itself was lovely, the woodland location makes it private as you can’t see other peoples yurts or outdoor spaces although you can hear them. The Woodland Sauna is nice and easy to book by writing your Yurt name on the chalk board. The Hot Tub is also a great feature. However there were a few disappointing factors that I wouldn’t expect from paying a couple of hundred pounds a night to stay. They were very tight with the logs, you only get one basket and then you are expected to buy extra from the honesty box. You’d expect from a two night stay these are refreshed as it felt very stingy. The main issue for us was when the man appeared in our Yurt to collect our bags on the last day. He arrived before 10am (the check out time) and I appreciate probably with helpful intentions but he was nothing but rude and condescending. He spoke to us with no respect and was so rude. He stormed into our yurt without asking to get the bags, a complete breach of privacy and respect. He proceeded to see the empty bag of logs and say “have you paid for those” in a rude manor. This left a bad final impression after what was a lovely restful stay and we felt completely disrespected. As two young professionals who have travelled extensively this is not something we would expect to experience and did tarnish the stay. If you paid a couple of hundred pounds to stay in a hotel you definitely would not expect that service.
Just returned from a 3 night stay in Willow Yurt, secluded, private, and quiet, definitely didn’t disappoint! I took my dog, who settled in straight away! The only note to make was apples falling off the tree and thudding on the deck at night making the dog bark and me jump!! Otherwise very peaceful, and so quiet around the site for morning jogs exploring the woods and lake. The kettle and coffee machine didn’t work, so boiled a pan! No big deal…True clamping style! Actually a novelty for me and made the stay more realistic to OFF GRID life! Loved having to chop the logs if needed, and fuel for heat etc… great experience, as a first time Glamper!! 😅 Peaceful, beautiful surroundings and the history of the land was interesting, and made the walks around more intriguing. Truly magical, very cozy stay! And Matt was so helpful if you needed anything! Great guy doing a great job! Will be back x
We can't recommend Yurtshire highly enough. This was our first time glamping with our 3 year old and it was a perfect 3 day holiday. We especially loved the outdoor hot tub, which doubled as an ideal cool plunge pool for our son to use during the heatwave. The yurts are huge and fully equipped. It's a great balance of privacy and calming nature without being isolated. Very comfortable (soft furnishings, great shower, full kitchen, dvd player) and luxurious but excellent value compared to other glamping in Yorkshire as you get so much for your money. Matt, the owner, was really friendly and our son said the trip up the hill in his electric cart was the best thing about the holiday!
