Swinsty MoorCar Park

This has been turned into a cash cow and is now a pay and display to access fresh air on the outskirts of Otley. It seems 2025 is the year to tax all citizens for accessing local nature and wildlife as nearly all the car parks have been turned into fine generators. Surprise surprise.. I can't pay cash... It seems the system is down and you are unable to pay for parking which is common. Be aware the prices on the board are not the price you pay..... When you go to pay there is a "convenience free" for using the RingGo app which in reality is a huge inconvenience in comparison to just paying cash.... Which the machine does not allow..... There is also a text message charge to text you confirmation you bought a ticket.... Surely a free email would suffice... Then there is a text message charge to inform you you paid parking is due to expire.... Oh .... On side note the cameras have been chopped down recently which I assume was done by a local hero!

Tried to get on the carpark just off the A59 first but there was no room as it's only small so came up to this one and I think this is the best one as it's free parking, plenty of spaces and free public toilets which are very clean and well looked after. Good sized picnic area and an ice cream 🍦 van was also there 😋. From here you can easily walk 🚶‍♂️ around both reservoirs.

Parking area at Swinsty Reservoir is free, hard standing, with disabled parking as well. Toilets available with a picnic area. Walked around Fewston Reservoir, hard compacted surface makes it suitable for those in wheelchairs. Walk is accessible for all families, takes a couple of hours, options to extend by walking Swinsty Resevoir as well.

Never been before, and ended up at a carpark we never knew about as couldnt fit under the 2.1m in our minibus, but that worked out for the better. Had a stunning walk with our dog and 2 kids. Walked around 4miles around Fewston Resivour, paths are great to walk on, and the views are beautiful.

Wasn't visiting the car park 🤣 but the beautiful area of the reservoir around it. A lovely walk with some really nice features around it, and a gorgeous stretch of water. Thoroughly enjoyed my day here. ❤️
