Had an ok stay… but… we was told when booking that we would be allocated a pitch near the playground as requested but upon arrival us and our friends was told there was no playground near the tent pitches and there hasn’t been for years… not sure why we was told otherwise but we would not of booked this site if we had known! Map given from staff was majorly out of date, (a single bench is a play area apparently).. The only playground on site is the one in the restaurant garden and is not lit up at all, it needs lighting for it to be deemed safe for the younger ones once it starts to get dark… toilets and shower block would of been lovely if they weren’t so dirty, there was no way to have a shower and be clean after walking on the shower floor, campfires are not allowed yet we saw 2 different families using them during our 2 night stay, pitches aren’t really allocated and if they are it isn’t monitored, on our second night someone pitched up right in front of us so we could not even park next to our tent. Didn’t raise any of these things with reception as we felt fobbed off on arrival after realising about the allocation of our pitch not been near playground as requested all she said was to mention it to the lady on the desk the next day and when we did it was her again! Not sure what good mentioning would have done but she said to do it then pretty much told us there was nothing they could do and to get over it basically.. my girls were looking forward to going and was very disappointed for the whole time.
Arrived on a Monday with my tourer. Site was well maintained and clean. Lovely bubbly woman on arrival. Sites big with plenty of walks at the top of the field. Close enough for us to travel between Filey, Scarborough and Bridlington. Will definitely be back.
We had a four day break here with our family. We were in a Motorhome and they were in a tent. The staff did their best to make sure we were as close as possible and that we could position our van as level as we could, bearing in mind this is a field with a gradient. The facilities block is relatively modern but has some flaws. The showers were very intermittent in flow and cold some of the time. My grandkids didn’t like them much. Also, despite the best efforts of a large bearded gentleman, who I suspect was a cleaner come handyman, the floor is always dirty. Might be worth putting a mop and bucket in each shower? A toilet cassette disposal point is easy to find and easy to use, as are the waste bins but I couldn’t find a grey water drain anywhere! I decided to tip mine in the hedge. We were a bit unsure if the tap near our van was drinking water because there are no signs to say it delivers potable water, so we took a chance. We went to the bar/ cafe on the first two nights but then discovered it was shut Monday and Tuesday. The staff are nice and friendly and the games room was great for the kids. Food was excellent. The main reason we picked this place was its proximity to Scarborough and if you want some advice use the Seamer Road Park and Ride to get into the town. Cheap and frequent. Overall I found it to be reasonable for the price but with the large number of others in the area I would consider them first if I return.
Staff: the owner's parents who worked reception and and the bar were always lovely and helpful Pool: decent size\temp but watch out for the floor tiles, they are extremely slippery even when walking carefully. You need to book a timeslot to use any of the facilities: pool, steam, sauna, hot tub which are all in the same room. "Gym": whole room is the size of a 4 berth caravan. Machines are out of date, not safety tested, some don't work. Large lump in floor under cycle machine and stepper makes them dangerously wobbly when in use. When I reported this, owner told me to not use the machines too quickly 😂? Out of use water cooler. Random TV on the floor. No windows. No air con. Couple of weights but no weight bench. Goodness help you if there are more than 2 people in that room at once. Laundry room: just enough room for one washer and one dryer. Dryer isn't properly plumbed in so it leaks a lot. Floors are usually flooded and dirty. But it's a cheap washing facility 🤷🏼♀️ Garden maintenance: very focused on the statics, not the caravans. Things were mostly overgrown. We ended up clipping our own lawn area. Toilet block: nasty. NASTY nasty. 🤢 Visible mold that gave me allergic reactions if I showered for more than a few minutes. Fans clogged with dirt and dust. Mirrors dirty, floors half-mopped. Seriously dirty. It felt gross touching anything in there. Doors are plastic and warped from the sun so they don't close properly but they also can get stuck so ALWAYS being your phone with you if you use them to call the wardens to rescue you if you get locked in. I was rescued multiple times. Dog walk: lovely views. Dog bins everywhere. Really really nice addition to the space. All in all my stay here was decent thanks to the owner's parents being so nice and my lovely neighbors. The straw for me was the member of staff that "cleaned" the toilet blocks bullying me for weeks and nothing being done about it. I didn't feel safe there any more and he would bully me multiple times a day; whenever he would pass by on a walk. It's all right now though! I'm in a new site with squeaky clean toilets and wonderful staff 😁
It's OK! The ground is on a slope so you need to be careful on how you pitch. The toilets block has showers included but they are in need of a spruce. There is mould on the walls and silicone and the toilet feels like it's going to fall of the wall when you sit down. The washing up facilities were good and clean. You can hire the swimming pool which also has a hot tub (not very hot) sauna and steam room, although the steam room wasn't working when we were there. You also need to be very careful as the area around the pool is very very slippy.
