A windswept desolate place and last place you would expect a Railway Station. But well worth a visit for a walk to see the nearby Ribblehead Viaduct. The station has two platforms, just apart from each other. There are two small waiting areas both well maintained. Good communication available via loudspeaker indicating the next train. There was no toilet facilities when I visited and the main building closed.
We met Janet and Andy at the Station Visitor Centre today who were very welcoming and entertaining and it turned out that Andy and I were both born in the same St.Lukes hospital in Bradford and had a great chat about alsorts whilst eating Janet's homemade cake and drinking their lovely cappucino's....
The views and walks around this area have got to be seen to be believed, the Yorkshire dales are amazing
The viaduct is majestic, worth an exploratory wander
