This was a great station for both arrival and departure, with platforms of a large size for the trains! Station signs are very clear and departure boards are kept up to date, vintage clock is a nice addition too. Navigating out using the bridge is easy and seating is readily available, although parts of the station are somewhat run down.

The lady in this ticket office goes above and beyond. Sadly the ticket office seems to be closed more often than not these days. The self service ticket machine is a bit hit and miss but please be warned…. If you try and pay on the train you may be subjected to a penalty. Most of Northern Rail conductors are fine but today I came across the conductor from hell who treated me like a criminal simply because I couldn’t use the machine. What a stark contrast from the efficient and ever helpful staff at Goole ticket office- I sincerely hope it doesn’t close down for good. Thank you for your impeccable service over the years.

Dismal, litter strewn platforms, overflowing bins and a waiting room that was locked on a sub zero Sunday morning meaning we had to sit outside in the freezing cold for 30 minutes. Is there any wonder that people prefer to travel by car?

A grim place to arrive at. Much better to depart from as wherever you're going to will be better. The vending machines are smashed to bits. The waiting areas are freezing cold and wet when the ticket office is shut. It looks like something from the war years.
