SPAR Threshfield

I had a frustrating experience at SPAR recently. Despite being well over 25 and looking more than 30, I was refused service due to the Challenge 25 policy. The staff insisted on ID, which I didn’t have at the time, leaving me embarrassed and unwelcome. This rigid approach to age verification feels excessive and inappropriate given the facts. SPAR needs to train staff to recognise when common sense should apply. I hope for a better experience for future customers, or I’ll be recommending Tesco and BP.

I was shocked to see a customer blatantly refused service because the cashier claimed they looked "under 25." This was not only absurd but also downright insulting, as the individual clearly appeared to be well over 25. It's infuriating how staff can hide behind flimsy guidelines, ignoring common sense. The cashier's condescending attitude was completely unwarranted, leaving the customer embarrassed and disrespected. To make matters worse, the customer went on to buy fuel… This behavior tarnishes SPARs reputation and creates a hostile environment for shoppers. I urge management to reevaluate their policies and ensure staff treats all customers with the respect they deserve. Until then, I can't recommend this store to anyone who values decent treatment.

Good selection of produce, decent fuel prices. Really wish they would consider removing the TV at checkouts, rolling BBC news is depressing!

Theirs are the best fuel prices around, but at busy times there's an excessive wait to fill up as everyone needs to go into the store to settle the bill, rather than paying at the pump. We gave up ...

A very handy shop closer to work but I find this place sometimes very busy, particularly when going to fill up for fuel or waiting in a long queue to be served. I do find it quite frustrating and annoying when times like that happen. A couple of improvements needed to be made is to provide a pay at pump service to reduce wait times, few self-service checkouts for those who only needed to pay for one item and improve the access to the forecourt with better signage and markings with the implementation of one in and one out (one way) system. Other than that, a good shop, friendly staff and very accessible.
