I’m making a complaint as we visited Driffield Tesco today and received some very embarrassing comments from a cashier named Tami. She scanned all our shopping through but when it came to paying my daughter who is 16 years old was going to pay for it. She asked my daughter if she was 16 or over and my daughter told her she was 16 years old. However Tami didn’t believe her and said “Well I don’t know if that’s the truth as it says here you have to be 16 or over to pay for this shopping as it includes a red bull that is age-restricted”. We knew this and it was obvious the red bull was mine. So I said, “I understand this but it is ridiculous”, as a customer I should be entitled to my own opinion. Tami didn’t think so, she decided to pull me up on it asking why I thought so and saying “excuse me what did you say”. This lead to her creating a little bit of a scene and raising her voice. Personally me and my daughter become embarrassed because there was no need for her tone to be so rude and something so little shouldn’t have been dealt with the way it was. All she had to do was apologise and say “I’m sorry but that’s just the law”. But she had chosen not to and dealt with it the wrong way leading us to feel quite hurt by her actions and pressured, she further kept saying that there were cameras, we knew this and the cameras can be checked, as it was clear I was asking my daughter to get her drink for her meal deal which was a Fanta, this shows that the red bull was clearly mine. She was asking my daughter for proof that she was 16 years old, at the time my daughter didn’t know what proof she had to give to show she was 16, but as her mother I wouldn’t need to lie about my daughters age. I fully understand the rules but Tami didn’t need to be so aggressive towards us. I hope this makes you aware of some of your staff and how one can be too opinionated. Thank you.

I’ve generally received a good friendly service from the store at Driffield. 1845 Friday 29/8 and all that changed. Rude, thoughtless and ignorant staff member at the self-service checkouts who when I was requesting assistance with a security tagged bottle of alcohol blurted out “when you’ve paid for it !” in earshot of all those in the area. It could’ve been construed by anyone listening that I was gonna do a runner. She could’ve taken the 2 or 3 steps to me and explained how their system, not my system, works. I thought that perhaps I was being over-sensitive but apparently not, her attitude towards me during the whole episode was snotty and unhelpful to say the least. Maybe it was a bad day for her, but you don’t talk to customers the way she did. Or perhaps, more realistically, she’s just in the wrong job. I can’t wait for the Aldi store to be built.

Absolutely shocking customer service the assistant scanned all my shopping though my daughter went to pay with her card on her phone to be told she could not pay as she has no id as I had brought a can red bull with my meal deal my daughter is 16 and is at college the assistant needs to learn how to not be so rude and loud and very judgmental did not like the way she acted very inappropriate my daughter asked how does she prove she is 16 to be told by the assistant to carry her passport with her or a pass card I am her mother why would I get my daughter to carry a passport about with her when I the parent is with her what a silly thing to say so the assistant tammy needs to go back to learning some skills in dealing with the public

I do think these stores should offer toilet facilities, not just tesco, all of a certain size, cafe or not. Nice large car park.
