I went into branch (10th June 25) to ask for their help in changing the 6 digit pass code applicable to my business account. Following a failed 10 minute attempt by a customer service assistant, I was informed that she couldn't be of any further assistance, as she wasn't trained in business banking. - She was sitting directly below a large sign which had the word 'Business' emblazoned upon it. Upon my exit, I explained the problem to her senior colleague. His reply was 'That sounds like a task for one of our business specialists'. I pointed to the business suite on the first floor and requested a chat with someone in that department. His reply? 'They all work from home'. I left the branch wondering just what the hell George Mainwaring (one needs to be over 60) would have thought. If I thought for one moment that there may be a better alternative, I would take it, but I very much doubt it. Could I claim appalling service? Not really, because I received no service at all.
Unfair reviews here. I got there early this morning without my bank card and they did allow awithdrawal. They even went an extra mile. The counter person waited patiently and helped me to activate travel money on line. Keep up the good work!
We have had an appalling time in this branch today. Me and my wife went in to put some cash into the bank into her own bank account. We were using the machines but as they seem to little faulty we decided to use Max the cashier. As we approached the cashier. We asked if it would be okay to use him to put some money into our accounts. We was instantly Met with a bombardment of questions. Where is the money come from? How much do you putting in? My wife said it made it her feel like a criminal!!! Bearing in mind that she was only trying to put money into her own account. At this point Max hadn't even accessed her account. It actually gets worse. My wife explained where the money it come from! Then he asked for proof which could be seen in her account. I even asked if it was normal for so many questions as everytime I put a large sum of money into my account. I have never been questioned by my bank. If anything I have been put into premier banking to ensure the safety of the transaction. After this, the cashier refused to put the money in the accounts saying that he required ID. However, her card was already in the terminal proving her identification. After being on with the with HSBC customer services we have then been told that it's at branch managers discretion as whether they asked these questions. Which proves the reason why these questions were asked is purely based on looks, my wife who is from Pakistani descent said she simply felt that she had been singled out because of her race or looks and from what was said by customer services this can only be true. I just don't understand how from asking a question whether we can use him to put money in suddenly becomes a question of where this money comes from. I could understand it if once the card was placed into the terminal and Max had accessed the account. The conversation didn't even start with a be happy to help, it started with an interrogation. What I find even more upsetting is that there is no limits to what is put into the machine and also you do not need or require identification to put money into your own account through this machine. So why the questions!!!? Again, the fact that this can happen proves that this is purely based on looks or race. What makes this even worse is once we actually put the money into the accounts through the machines without any questions asked. I then asked Max what is the limit I will be able to put in the account without having ID. The reply was that this is the policy of the bank and it changes.. if this was the policy of the bank, the bank would be transparent with the policy to allow their customers to know the limit of when they would need ID to place money into their accounts. Also, he was whispering to his manager behind him the whole time making me and my wife feel extremely uncomfortable. Not only that, he started to write numerous notes on the system which We will hopefully be able to be sent through the new rulings of GDPR. It's just upsetting that this can happen in this day and age when you have a system in place which can do the job of a cashier and you ask for help from an employee as a loyal customer to the bank and you get treated like this. Should be ashamed! We will be making a formal complaint!
Literally the most disappointing in-person banking experience ive ever witnessed. Took me 4 weeks, 4 in-person visits to the branch for them to be able to open a bank account for me. A simple task such as opening a bank account and getting a bank card should be very clear-cut and routine for the staff at the bank, but apparently not. I am absolutely appalled and I hope I never have to deal with this bank branch again.
Got there after they closes but was able to sort my problem using the ATM
