We found this place on the ‘happy cow’ app - we’re not vegan but this food blew us away, special shout out to the okra fries and also LOU for squeezing us in and generally being an excellent dreambabe who makes a great cup of tea. Gorgeous atmosphere, reasonably priced, every dish was unusual, well thought out and beautifully presented. We loved it, HIGHLY recommended - was busy on a Saturday night so probably good to book
Absolutely a taste sensation! As a meat eater I dare anyone who is on the fence about vegan food to try Nelsons. Every dish is cleverly crafted, the flavours are outstanding and the service and wines are second to none! This really is a special place with vibes, atmosphere and friendly service. 10/10 all round.
BEAT MEAL I’VE EVER HAD! Sorry for the all caps but I can’t praise this place enough. I ordered the okra fries, tofu tikka burger and orange, cardamom and almond pudding (these were from their Indian Tapas menu) and they were all absolutely incredible. The okra fries… What were they coated in? Heaven dust? Maybe. Their dipping sauce was heavenly too—I had to stop myself from spooning it out of the ramekin as I thought this was a step too far. The burger was amazing (IT CAME IN A VEGAN BRIOCHE BUN!!!!) and the pudding was a beautiful medley of flavours. Furthermore the service and ambience was second to none. I was recommended to come here by someone else and I can see why—this is an 11/10 establishment!
Had an excellent vegan meal at Nelson's as part of a birthday celebration. We ordered a few of the small plates to share and thoroughly enjoyed all of them. The natural wine offering is great and the atmosphere is cosy with plenty of space, with tables not too cramped together.
Great basement bar with a fantastic set of drinks and a nice sound system. We were there on a Thursday evening and had some vegan small plates. The food is brilliant. Neither of us are vegan but that doesn't matter, and anyone should give this place a whirl. Mushroom masala, a daal, and some coconut rice with chickpeas would probably be enough but we also shared the pathia with pickles and dips. Service was great and overall a lovely evening.
