My boyfriend was renting a house in Huddersfield around 7 months ago when we first became a couple. I lived 2 hours away so this was my first and ended up being my only time visiting his home, When I went to his house I was actually so shocked I ended up taking him home with me the same week best decision of my life, after extending my stay to help him sort through his things to leave. The property had a severe rodent problem, his personal items were destroyed by rats and every problem he reported to them that he showed me (a long list) never got fixed. His life was made miserable by rats, leaks, mould and dangerous living conditions for years. There was rats coming through skirting boards, floors and even chewed through his daughters stuffed toys, most of his other belongings and left feces everywhere. My parents after hearing about this drove the 2 hours to come collect his things, entered the house and were also shocked and said they could not believe what he had been living in, it visibly upset my dad and my mam was in disbelief. After leaving the property white gates saw fit to attempt to charge him around £1500 for the damage to the property he had the great displeasure of living in. We tried to have a phone call to have it explained to us why he was being charged and I ended up taking the phone out of his hand because after explaining that to a very ignorant woman that his austistic daughters belongings were covered in rat droppings and rat urine she did not care and disregarded what he just said completely continuing in a uncaring tone that he would be charged. No empathy, no care, no apology for what he had been living in. Nothing. We both appealed this to a higher level and they did not get their £1500. SHOCKER. If you want your house to come with free pets and you like rodents these guys are the one for you.

I have had some dealings with Whitegates in Huddersfield in the past, though on the rental side. I always found them to be responsive and helpful, so when I had to sell my parents' house, they were an obvious choice to consider. Again, I found them very responsive and they offered good value (especially with a 'returning customer' discount. Once all the paperwork was completed, I was able to let them take the reigns. They kept me up to speed on progress, viewings etc (I live some way away from Huddersfield), and they were helpful in advising on house prices in the area. It wasn't long before I had two solid offers and these progressed as well as I hoped. From initial approach to sale secured in just over 4 months!

Georgia and the Whitegates team were fantastic. Whenever we had questions, we got answers, they gave us regular updates and helped with anything we needed (as we lived nearly 200 miles away now). Towards the end of the process, Georgia ensured we had an update every Wednesday, even if it was "I'm still chasing X". Great work by a great team.

Absolutely appalling to tenants. They make promises but never follow through. Repairs? HAH! Forget about them. We told them about a leak before we moved in. It's still leaking after we moved out 6 years later. It's even affecting the neighbour's house. Our landlord defaulted on his mortgage and we had bailiffs coming to our door looking for him, but when we told Whitegates, they said the landlord had told them it was fine so it must be fine. 6 years of lies from the landlord and still they believed his every word, but us? We were left in a damp, mouldy, draughty house and were eventually evicted BY THE COURTS when the landlord didn't pay his mortgage...again. Even after 6 years of rent increases and empty promises of repairs. The support from Whitegates during the eviction? None-existent. They're currently trying to claim that we owe them rent for the period after we left and they want to keep our deposit even after 6 years of being ignored and eventually being evicted by the court. We'll gladly go to court for it AGAIN. Nothing but useless thieving crooks. ***EDIT*** The DPS found that their claims were unfounded and awarded us our full deposit back. Never back down. Don't give these thieves one inch because they'll take a mile.

Very professional service to secure an excellent tenant for our property. Kept all stakeholders informed and handled the requisite paperwork accurately and efficiently. Would definitely use again.
