Absolutely horrendous experience buying a new MG ZS EV Long Range from Perrys Huddersfield. It’s my first time buying a new car and I wanted to make sure I bought from a well known, reputable dealership, especially as I was spending such a large sum of money. The car was delivered to me damaged and absolutely filthy, it wasn’t a new car at all (photos attached) I spoke to someone and they basically told me to sort it out myself and they would give me £300 towards it! The damage was probably in the thousands to sort as it would need a respray. I asked if I could return it, and they lied to me and told me I couldn’t. It was also bad timing as I was due to go on holiday for 3 weeks the next day so I had limited time to research my rights etc. I also live a few hundred miles away from this dealership. They then tried to arrange for it to be fixed at another garage, but this would have invalidated its warranty, as it needed to be fixed by an approved MG dealership. It took an independent party to realise this, luckily before the work was done. I then realised the battery range was not as advertised. The car was registered in April 2025, but it was manufactured in May 2023. No-one could explain this discrepancy. This is an issue as electric cars, specifically the battery, shouldn’t be left sat with a full, or discharged battery for long periods of time. I bought the car for my commute (70 miles there, 70 miles back, 140 total, all motorway). I was assured the MG ZS EV LONG RANGE, would be more than capable of this on a single charge. The car just about does the journey, if I stick at around 65 mph, and this is in the summer. So the real range is about 160/170 miles. It should be around 200/210 on the motorway. WLTP or advertised range is 273 miles. I have been trying to return the car for a refund for months and Perrys refuse to take it back. I took the car to an approved MG Perrys to get the damage fixed (at their expense, but also mine as I had to take 3 days off work in total to get it all sorted) and told them to keep hold of the car for as long as possible to investigate the battery issue. They didn’t. They just fixed the damage and gave it back. I’m covered under the Consumer Rights Act for multiple reasons. The car wasn’t as advertised, it arrived damaged, it isn’t fit for purpose, I gave them a chance to fix/investigate the issues and they didn’t, AND I had 30 days to reject the car but was misinformed and blocked from doing so. Perrys are currently ignoring all correspondence from me and the case has gone to the Ombudsman. I would strongly advise anyone to avoid this dealership and Perrys in general. If something goes wrong with your car, then you will not receive the help and protection you would expect from this company. They are completely unprofessional in every way. So in summary I was sold a new car that had been sat somewhere for a year or so, damaged and filthy. I was mislead about my rights which prevented me from returning it within 30 days. Then other issues appeared with regard to the battery and recently various warnings popping up on the dashboard. Perrys have ignored all my requests to return the car and get a refund. Which I am still legally entitled to. My advice to anyone reading this is to avoid buying a car from Perrys, and specifically Perrys Huddersfield. *also posted on Perrys Huddersfield Kia, as the same people who I have dealt with John (since left the company) Albert and Brett, work between both Kia and MG
I've just bought a 75 plate MG HS PHEV. The sales person I delt with was Rodney. Absolutely genuine perfect experience. From start to finish he was knowledgeable, and what he didn't know, he found out. Really friendly guy. My whole experience from start to finish with him was smooth, from the 1 hour test drive, to collecting the vehicle. The whole process took 3 days. Cheers Rodney for a smooth and friendly experience. Thankyou all at Perrys Huddersfield Cheers Andy
Great experience buying our car from Perry's MG Huddersfield. Rodney was a top bloke dealing with our enquiry, from us viewing the car online and him sending a personalised tour of the car, through to us buying the car. Rodney showed excellent care and attention throughout the whole buying process. We have owned the car for a few weeks now and have had a couple of slight issues, nothing major, but Rodney has managed to sort it and everything is now all ok and the car is fab!! Excellent service from start to finish. Would highly recommend Perrys MG Huddersfield, and would buy from them again.
Never had to deal with a company like this! When I first went to test drive a car I found out, after ordering and receiving the car that it was completely different to the one I test drove! They'd let me test drive a car I wasn't even buying. And problems I've had I've got in touch with them and trying to get to speak to someone is like asking for blood from a stone! They promise to call back and never do, then when you call them for the third or fourth time they are suddenly "in a meeting" . The advice they give you for any problems is absolutely ridiculous like if your car windscreen is constantly fogging up their advice" bring your car in and we will put the carpets under a heater" ????? Even though they admitted my carpets weren't even damp. Another "tip" for the same problem "drive around with your air con on all the time constantly!!! They promise to e mail documents and call you back next morning, NEITHER of which they do. Glad my lease is up in a year! Will NEVER go to them again! Totally no customer service skills at all!!!
just collected our IM5 - love it these european manufacturers dont stand a chance against the tech coming from the far east. - Becky did an amazing job looking after us on the day we went to view/test drive and on collection day too (shame about the weather) Brett - you did ok too ;) We have driven an EV for the last two years and really thought we had the top end of tech with our Ioniq6 - but the IM5 blows it out of the water once you find where the controls are. The price point for the technology level is amazing.
