Inedible cake and highly unprofessional service from beginning to end! When requested if Kitty’s Cake and Balloons could make a vegan cake (no egg or milk) for my Grandad’s 80th Birthday they instantly said yes. I complimented their cake making skills by saying I loved all their designs but couldn’t pick one I’d like them to make, thinking a creative person would a bit of freedom to make a cake with a loose design. I then provided the below list of things my Grandad liked to help design the cake: BMW cars Potatoes Favourite colour is Dark blue Rugby league (Huddersfield giants) Dominoes Card games They then suggested a rugby league themed cake that would include the Huddersfield Giants logo. I was happy with this thinking they’d make a spectacular cake like id seen on Instagram. Possibly a rugby ball shaped cake in the Huddersfield Giants colours. I was provided with a cost (£69) and £6 for delivery, I asked if I could pick up for free from somewhere. I was told this was possible. Days went by and I received no confirmation of the cake order. After chasing 4 times and 2 weeks later I received a confirmation that said: Hi, Apologies for the late email as very busy with wedding cake bookings. This email is to confirm your cake order for the 14th of August. Thank you So my cake wasn’t as important as a wedding cake booking. The day came to collect the cake and I arrived at the agreed location at 11am as they suggested. I waited until 11.10am to call to ask where they were. My call was instantly declined and a message came through saying message me! I said I was there to collect the cake, they said ok give me 10 minutes. The cake was delivered at 11.25am. 25 minutes after the time they told me to meet them. The cake was presented by a man (presumably the owner) with a thick black fake eyelash on the white icing (god knows how they didn’t see it when putting the lid on the box) The man who brought the cake apologised for the eyelash and for being late. He said she (the cake maker) was very busy. I was instantly disappointed to see the cake but paid the remaining balance as you do out of politeness the same way you do when you’re not happy with a new haircut. When I returned home I tried to reach out to Kitty’s to express my disappointment via the phone, my calls were declined so I eventually had to text my concerns. I then received a phone call from a man who I presume is the owner Muhei-Ud-Din Muftee. Kitty’s were very defensive and tried to say they had to go searching high and low for vegan friendly ingredients. All ingredients in a vegan friendly/ allergy free cake are available in any supermarket. There was also a clear spelling mistake on the cake, Huddersfields Giants not Huddersfield Giants. They tried to pass blame about the cake design back to me to which I replied that none of the cakes I’d seen on their instagram looked like mine and I wasnt aware it was possible for them to make such a boring, plain old style cake. Muhei-Ud-Din said they were going on holiday later that day he needed to get off the phone. When I asked about a refund the man said he would ask his partner (who made the cake) and then hung up the phone. Hours went by and I didn’t received a reply about the refund so said I would make my experience known via reviews. The next day was my Grandad’s birthday, we cut into the cake to find a horrible stodgy bitty mess. People asked if the cake was fit to eat and if it was cooked properly! How embarrassing.
Please use this person if you want to be left feeling devastated on the morning of your wedding 🙈 DO NOT use this “company” they are far from professional I ordered our wedding cake in 2024 they said they could do exactly what we had asked for so we paid the deposit upon ordering. The balance was paid several weeks before the date the cake was due to be delivered so plenty of notice and no excuse for what they delivered. To offer a £25 refund for a cake that cost £160 is actually insulting the cake was inedible sunk and leaning not to mention the totally wrong colours even after sending through pictures of our flowers and bridesmaid dress colours which they said they could match. When getting in touch to try and rectify the issue they didn’t care told us that their policy is no refunds once the cake has been accepted, now let’s bare in mind there was no one at the venue to accept the cake for starters and they didn’t send the picture through of the cake until after they delivered it knowing fine well that this cake was hideous and would not be accepted by any sane person. I asked for a picture of our cake the day before the wedding and the response was it’s not made yet we make all our cakes fresh in pretty sure unless the cake was forgotten about then it would definitely have been ready the evening before at latest ready for delivery on the morning of the wedding. Absolutely disgraceful service from these “professionals” please DO NOT waste your money using them the full cake went in the bin and may as well thrown the £160 in there with it! DISGUSTING If I could give 0 stars I would!!!
***DO NOT USE*** Well seen as though my Facebook review wont go through, we will make this public. Where do i start with this? Im not one to write reviews or slander businesses but being polite with this "business" is getting me no where. My auntie had a wedding Saturday 20th December in which Kittys were providing the cake. The cake was ordered 1 year in advance, pictures were provided on how the cake was intended to look and the end result being a beautiful cake. Kittys had no issues with the image provided and never mentioned any problems with achieving the end result. Kittys had requested full payment to be made prior to the delivery in which as a customer and seeing the images "of cakes they have previously done" never questioned it. Friday 19th December came around, THE DAY BEFORE THE WEDDING! My auntie had requested an image of the cake in which they responded with "they are freshly made it will be done tonight"... well it certainly was made that night but clearly the "business" owner was either high or very tired to think this cake is acceptable for a wedding day. Saturday 20th December, the day of the wedding. Kittys had sent through an image of the cake at 09:42am, this was questioned straight away as the colour of the cake was more of a bogey green than a forest green. In which Kitty’s advised it was the colour that was sent through of the Bridemaids dresses… utterly rubbish! Kittys had advised it was the lighting. I went down to the venue once it had been delivered at 10:44am to see that the leaning tower of pisa had made an appearance in West Yorkshire. Wow. How a "business" owner is happy to present and deliver this to a wedding is utterly beyond me. I would much rather poop on a stick to have been delivered. The cake was leaning, sinking and even better FROZEN in the middle. This was raised to Kittys straight away asking them to re-attend the venue to sort out the cake before the reception was taking place. They used the excuse of "it was the last cake before the Christmas period so the business is now closed". This is how this "business" treats its customers. They advised the cake was accepted.. however no recollection of this being accepted, the minute the picture was sent through everything was questioned So kitty, challenge for you, provide me with the evidence of this cake being accepted. This cake cost £160, honestly best off eating poop off the ground and celebrating that way. After speaking to them via Facebook messenger i was polite, and asked them for a refund for this "cake" and got a message advising they would offer a partial refund. They messaged me today saying £25 only. £25 ! I hope you are utterly ashamed of yourself and you are proud of your so called "bespoke" cakes. I have given this company long enough to resolve this issue in an appropriate way, with failing, this is now the only solution before taking them to small claims court. AVOID THIS "BUSINESS" AT ALL COSTS.
From start to finish Kittys cakes has been amazing. Great correspondence, advice, communication and value for money the best bit of course was our wedding cake, vanilla sponge for top tier and chocolate for the bottom, it went down a treat and everyone loved it, tasty and looked stunning Thank you 😊 (we added the stand & cake topper )
Absolutely stunning cake! I was very pleased with both the taste and appearance. Would highly recommend :) Was very easy to contact and cake was made exactly to the photo I sent.
