Bentham Pottery
About
Description
Bentham Pottery was established in 1976 and has been a welcoming, thriving craft pottery run by the original owners and their son ever since. It follows the tradition of hand-thrown craft pottery established locally centuries ago in the adjacent village of Burton-in-Lonsdale .
Bentham Pottery is located in Low Bentham, in between the market towns of Settle and Kirkby Lonsdale and close to the village of Ingleton, famous for its Waterfalls Walk, Three Peaks and show caves.
All the pottery is hand thrown on a wheel and is hand decorated. Visitors are welcome to look around the shop/showroom, see the potters at work and have a tour of the workshop. A range of high quality dish washer/oven proof domestic ceramic pottery wares are produced, as well as one-off pots, named logo beakers, salt pigs (salt pots), ceramic house signs and specially commissioned commemorative plates (anniversary/birthday plates make ideal gifts).
The pottery also hosts extremely popular pottery courses (see Trip Advisor/Facebook for unbiased, very complimentary reviews.) These range from half day to 5 day courses and specialise in learning to throw. Some of these courses book up months in advance. Participants often stay at the adjacent holiday cottages.
