•Finding a brilliant night out that doesn't cost a fortune can be a bit of a mission, especially just before Valentine's Day. But for anyone in Hull, there’s an event on the horizon that ticks all the boxes: fantastic music, a great atmosphere, and the brilliant feeling of knowing the money is going to a good cause. A special music night is being organised to raise money for the Lord Mayor’s chosen charities, offering a perfect, feel-good evening for everyone. It's a chance to get together with friends, enjoy some classic songs, and support the local community, all for the price of a couple of coffees.
A musical trip through time
On Thursday, 13 January 2026, the place to be is the New Walton Club. Starting at 7:30 pm, the club will be filled with the sounds of hits spanning several decades. Imagine a playlist that kicks off with the rock 'n' roll of the 50s, swings through the iconic sounds of the 60s and 70s, and then gets everyone dancing with the pop and rock anthems of the 80s, 90s, and 2000s. It’s like a live version of the ultimate throwback playlist. A brilliant lineup of talented performers and singers is ready to take the stage, ensuring the energy is high all night. These local artists are volunteering their time, which just goes to show the amazing community spirit behind this event. For just a fiver, you get hours of live entertainment. The tickets are an absolute steal for a night packed with so much fun and nostalgia. Whether it’s tunes that parents or grandparents loved, or the songs that were the soundtrack to your own school days, there’s bound to be something that gets your feet tapping.
More than just the music
And it's not just about the incredible songs. What's a classic club night without a bit of extra fun thrown in? Alongside the live music, there will also be a game of bingo. It’s a bit of light-hearted competition, a chance to have a laugh with your mates and maybe, just maybe, walk away with a prize. But the excitement doesn’t stop there. There will also be a raffle held during the evening, with plenty of prizes up for grabs. The raffle is another great way to contribute to the fundraising effort while adding a little bit of suspense to the night. Every ticket bought for the raffle and every game of bingo played adds to the final total raised for the chosen charities. It’s all part of creating a fun, engaging, and community-focused atmosphere where everyone can have a good time while making a real difference. The New Walton Club is known for being a welcoming spot, and this event promises to be another memorable night there.
Supporting some truly worthy causes
So, where does all the money go? Every single penny from the proceeds of the night will go directly into the Lord Mayor’s Charity Appeal Fund. This year, the fund is supporting two incredible local organisations: STAND and One Punch Hull & East Yorkshire. These are charities that do vital work right on our doorstep. One Punch Hull & East Yorkshire raises awareness about the devastating impact that a single punch can have, offering support to victims and families affected by violence. It's a hugely important message about safety and responsibility. The other charity, STAND, is dedicated to supporting survivors of trauma. They provide a safe space and crucial resources for people when they need it most. By buying tickets for this music night, people are directly helping these organisations continue their amazing work in the Hull community. It’s a simple way to contribute to a fantastic local charity appeal fund and ensure these services can keep running.
A word from the Lord Mayor
The Lord Mayor of Hull, Councillor Cheryl Payne, is clearly passionate about the event and the causes it supports. She’s the driving force behind this fantastic fundraising effort. Speaking about the upcoming night, she shared her excitement.
“I’m delighted that we can once again hold an event at the wonderful New Walton Club, after we packed it out for a 60s and 70s night in November,” said Councillor Cheryl Payne. “This time, we’re going back even further with songs from the 50s, whilst also bringing things a bit more up to date with the hits from the 80s, 90s and 2000s. We’ve got a brilliant lineup of singers, and there’ll also be bingo and a raffle. It’s a great opportunity to have a fun and cheap night out just ahead of Valentine’s Day, whilst raising some money for some really worthy causes. I’d like to thank the New Walton Club and all the artists, who have offered us the venue and their services free of charge.”
