|There’s some big news for anyone in Rotherham who loves a proper local pub. The Bluebell Inn is back in business, and it’s had a serious glow-up. After a massive £309,000 investment, the doors swung open again on Wednesday 19th November, showing off a complete refurbishment. This isn't just a lick of paint and some new chairs, though. The team behind The Bluebell Inn has introduced a clever new idea designed to keep everyone happy, whether you’re out with the family for a quiet meal or catching the footie with your mates. The well-loved local pub is ready to welcome the community back through its doors for the festive period and beyond.

A pub with two personalities?
Ever had that debate about where to go? One person wants a lively atmosphere with sports on the telly, while another just wants a cosy corner for a chat. Well, The Bluebell Inn has come up with a solution. It's called the “Two Door Pub” concept. It sounds a bit mysterious, but it’s actually a brilliant, simple idea. The pub is now split into two distinct areas, each with its own vibe.
On one side, you’ve got a buzzing sports bar. This is the place for cheering on your team, having a bit of friendly competition, and soaking up that classic pub energy. On the other side, there's a relaxed and comfortable family lounge. This space is designed for chilled-out meals, family get-togethers, and quiet catch-ups. It means you can have the best of both worlds, all under one roof. The locals no longer have to choose; The Bluebell Inn now offers the perfect spot for any occasion, ensuring every part of the community has a place that feels right for them.
Celebrating a true community hero
A pub relaunch wouldn't be complete without a proper christening, right? To mark the grand reopening of this much-loved pub, the honour of pouring the very first pint went to a local legend. Suzanne, a well-known face around Rotherham, was chosen as the pub’s official community hero. Why Suzanne? Because she’s one of those amazing people who is always helping others. From supporting local food banks to getting involved in fundraising events and donating prizes for raffles, she’s a cornerstone of the local community. It was a fitting tribute to someone who gives so much, and a great way to show that The Bluebell Inn is all about its people and the strong community it serves. This gesture highlights the pub's commitment to being more than just a place to drink; it's a hub for the family and locals who make the area special.
What's new in the sports bar?
If you love live sports, the new sports bar at The Bluebell Inn is going to be your new favourite hangout. The refurbishment has kitted the place out with everything a fan could want. Let's break it down:
- Huge HD Screens: Forget squinting at a tiny screen in the corner. The bar now has large HD screens, making sure you catch every goal, try, and wicket in crystal-clear detail. It’s the next best thing to being at the stadium.
- Games Galore: It’s not just about watching. You can get in on the action too. There’s a dedicated darts area for a bit of friendly competition, plus a brand-new pool table. Perfect for challenging your mates to a game or two over a pint.
The whole space is designed to be lively and fun, a proper hub for locals to gather and celebrate the big sporting moments together. The investment has clearly focused on creating a top-tier experience for sports lovers in the community.
Food, family, and furry friends
Beyond the sports bar, The Bluebell Inn is making sure everyone feels welcome. The new family lounge offers a cosy and inviting atmosphere, perfect for a meal with the whole family. And speaking of food, the menu is packed with pub classics that everyone loves. Plus, with the festive season just around the corner, they've launched a special Christmas menu.
The Christmas menu features all the traditional favourites, like a classic roast turkey dinner, alongside some seriously tempting desserts like a dark chocolate mint tart. What’s great is that they’ve thought about everyone’s dietary needs. The menu includes fantastic gluten-free and vegan options, so nobody has to miss out. This commitment to an inclusive menu shows how much the pub values every customer. And the best part? Your four-legged friends don’t have to stay at home. The Bluebell Inn is a dog-friendly pub, so the entire family, pooch included, can come along.
Get ready for the festive period
With Christmas on its way, The Bluebell Inn is planning a whole host of events to get everyone in the spirit. The pub is set to be a real hub of activity throughout the festive period. There will be something for everyone, with events designed for kids and the whole family, as well as some fun nights just for the adults. It’s all part of the pub’s plan to bring the community together and create some brilliant memories. After a big refurbishment, what better way to show off the new space than by hosting a fantastic lineup of Christmas events for the locals?
What the general manager thinks
The person overseeing this huge transformation is General Manager, Harley Dawson. He’s clearly thrilled with how the refurbishment has turned out and what it means for the Rotherham community. He shared his excitement about the project.
Harley Dawson said:
“At The Bluebell Inn, we’re excited to introduce our distinctive ‘Two Door Pub’ concept to the community. This investment reflects our commitment to creating a space where both locals and visitors can enjoy memorable experiences, whether it’s the thrill of live sports in our vibrant bar or the comfort of relaxing in our inviting family lounge. Every detail of this refurbishment has been carefully considered to cater for a variety of occasions, blending modern style with the warmth of home. With something for everyone, we can’t wait to welcome guests through our doors.”
It's clear that a lot of thought has gone into this project, with the goal of creating a versatile and welcoming pub for everyone in the local area. The Bluebell Inn is ready for its next chapter.
