About
Description
Bramham Park has been the home of the Lane Fox family for 300 years. The house was built in 1698 by Robert Benson, 1st Lord Bingley, in the style of the great Tuscan villas he had seen on a grand tour of Europe. Its 66 acres of pleasing grounds in the style of 'le Notre' - designer of the gardens at Versailles - are all green vistas, temples and the gleam of distant water.
Bramham Park represents an important stage in British architecture and garden design: the House is neither baroque nor typically palladian and the gardens are somewhere between the formal and the picturesque.
Bramham is a rare survivor of the period and we have tried to keep it as its creator, Robert Benson, intended it. There is lots of space and it can be all yours to discover for the day. Please note, however, that we do not have any facilities to serve refreshments - please bring your own picnic to enjoy in the grounds! Please ensure that you take all of your rubbish home with you.
Bramham Park is the home of numerous events, most notably Bramham International Horse Trials every June, and Leeds Festival every August.
