Malton Community Hospital

Arrived for my Prostate Biopsies at Malton Urology. Mr Wilson and the two assisting nurses in the procedure room were fantastic. All very professional with an outstanding attitude to your well-being. My procedure went well, nothing like I was anticipating. None of the anticipated pain just very little discomfort from the second anaesthetic. Felt nothing as the biopsies were taken. Appreciating everyone is different but really if you're heading there for this procedure don't worry. Although a little invasive , I was chatting away with the nurses, Mr Wilson cracking the odd joke and soon the procedure was over. Everything went great thanks to the 3 of them. Please if you need this procedure do not worry it really is not as bad as you think. Thank you Mr Wilson and the 2 wonderful Nurses for making the procedure as comfortable as possible. Only critique is getting the results from other staff members, have to keep phoning to ask for them and an explanation as to what they mean but still left hanging so none the wiser.

From the moment I arrived at Malton Hospital, I felt reassured by the professionalism and genuine kindness of the staff. Whether at reception, in the Urgent Treatment Centre, or in diagnostics, everyone treated me with warmth, respect, and patience. They made what could have been a stressful visit feel manageable and even comforting. The care I received was excellent. I felt listened to — explanations were clear, concerns were addressed, and I never felt rushed. The medical team showed compassion (and competence) every step of the way, which made a big difference in my peace of mind. The facilities were clean and well-maintained. Even in busy areas, the hospital seemed organised. I appreciated comfortable waiting areas, good signage, and hygiene standards that felt reassuring, especially in these times. Something that really stood out was how responsive the hospital has been to patient feedback. For example, the Minor Injuries Unit had its weekend opening hours restored after the community raised concerns – it shows the hospital listens to people, which inspires trust.

Visited here all staff so so helpful..... I'm. Disabled and they treated everyone that entered the hospital with such care and respect compassion .... A fantastic team really really want to say THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR HELP.

This has taken me nearly a year to write this as iam so traumatised by my beautiful mother’s treatment by this place, bit of background my mum was very ill with lung cancer and there were no beds at saint Catherines in Scarborough, so she got asked if she would go to this place for a few days hopefully to get some relief and pain management and she felt relieved, we all did as a family thought great mums going to be looked after well how wrong we were! I was very poorly at the time and sectioned so it was hard and very distressing for me to see mum plus travelling there from Scarborough, first visit i went was with my husband we were not sure were to go and eventually found the ward, went to the nurses desk and stood waiting for a nurse to acknowledge us asked were mum was she could hardly lift her head to look at us, no oh yes your mums in this room no kindness considering the situation, my mum was a lady and did her makeup everyday and liked to look nice everyday no matter how she felt, no problem well seemed mum was judged for this? How dare mum want to do these things when she’s dying! Mum also let us in on little things saying some of them don’t know how to do a lung drain and mum tried to talk some through best she could, but they seemed almost frustrated that she needed so much care and were not equipped to look after her or show her kindness may I say some not all mum was greatful for kindness, that first visit I left my mum and I got outside and cried leaving her in a place were she wasn’t getting the care and empathy she should, it never sat well with the family.you should be able to leave thinking well she’s in the right place getting looked after not once did the family feel this. I kept in touch with mum daily and on the second visit my mum looked weary she never went into loads of detail about her treatment as she was always trying to protect me, but she did say that something had happened and a nurse had even come back to her and said will you except my apology my mum said no. I carnt even imagine what this nurse had done! Mum said to me I havnt even told you the half of it but I could see in her face she wasn’t been cared for by some,how hard is it to be kind and show empathy she was not a rude demanding person and always treated everybody with respect and kindness, she was so trying to get out of there and get to saint Catherines bless her heart, the night before she went there she needed lung drain and a night nurse did this about 2,3 am my mum was an extremely brave lady throughout this whole diagnosis this so called nurse had said to my mum to be quiet as she was disturbing other patients excuse me mum said I have never disturbed anyone my entire life, she said all she did was say ohh as it was bit painful and probably she was being abit rough, my mum got to saint Catherine’s and passed 2 days later wonderful care excellent pure empathy and kindness and professionals, but mum had spent a week in that hospital and I truely believe that it had exhausted her in every way mind, body, soul I wish so much she never went there as it breaks our hearts to think what she had to endure at the hands of some of these so called nurses, and remember we didn’t even know the half of it, I genuinely think if mum was in saint Catherine’s hospital her outcome would have been so different, and we would not be left saying carnt believe how that place treated her it is a double grief, all my mum wanted was kindness and empathy, dignity this place gave none as I said not all but majority, so please if your loved one gets referred to this place think twice especially if they have to do lung drains . So I continue with my ptsd about mums final days every patient should be treated with dignity kindness especially when they are so poorly imagine being mistreated when your so vulnerable? This place is a hell hole I will never forgive what damage they have caused

Nice little community hospital, very helpful and friendly staff. Have to take my son here for pediatric outreach clinic. Very clean and tidy. Some vending machines for snacks nice waiting room. As hospitals go lovely, I'd give 6stars if I could.
