Drink it now or cellar for up to 5 years. No need to decant. The Carpe Diem wine line is produced by the Casa Vinicola Luca, located in Moldova and owned by winemaker Ion Luca. The company, family-run for four generations, was rebuilt in 2011 after the family's deportation in 1949 and expropriation by the Soviet regime. Today, the company owns approximately 10.5 hectares of vineyards planted with local and international grape varieties. The Viorica grapes, a rare Moldovan variety created from a cross, are selected and harvested by hand from sunny slopes. After gentle pressing, fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature in stainless steel. After vinification, the wine rests in stainless steel to preserve the varietal freshness. The soil and climate conditions of the vineyards and the meticulous winemaking process favor the full expression of the grape variety and the production of a lively, full-bodied wine with aromatic character. In the glass, Viorica Carpe Diem reveals a bright, clear color with golden hues. Its aromatic profile is fragrant and seductive, with notes of white flowers and citrus, ripe stone fruit and tropical fruit, and delicately spicy undertones. On the palate, it is fresh and mineral, balanced and vibrant. It has refreshing acidity and a fruity finish that hints at a gentle sweetness. It is an elegant and versatile wine that pairs well with shellfish and light fish dishes in lemon sauce.
