Product Description
Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant, but best to open it half an hour before service. Located in the Douro Valley, Portugal, Companhia dos Vinhos do Douro is a winery that makes various lines of wines from local grape varieties. The Oboe line, created at Quinta do Cabeço in the Cima Corgo winemaking subregion, is their premium range, produced with grapes from old vineyards in a unique biodiverse environment. Oboe Superior Tinto is a blend of Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, and Touriga Franca. After harvesting, the wine is fermented at a controlled temperature in stainless steel. A maceration phase follows, and the finished wine ages in French oak for eight months before bottling and release. The result is a distinctive and approachable wine with a bright ruby color. On the nose, it reveals a fragrant and broad aromatic profile with ripe fruity notes of blackberry, blackcurrant, and cassis, followed by hints of oak and caramel. On the palate, it develops good complexity. It is full-bodied and concentrated, balanced and smooth. It has velvety tannins and a pleasant, refreshing acidity. The finish is long and fruity. Try it with roast beef, lasagna Bolognese, or chili con carne.
