Viña Pomal Barrel Fermented Rioja Blanco 2024/25

Modern, yet traditional Rioja Blanco from one of the oldest producers in the region. Stunning value for money with layers of creamy lemony flavours. First planted at the beginning of the 20th century, the vineyard of Viña Pomal is now over 120 hectares, the oldest vines of which date back to 1971. Combining traditional practices with modern advances in viticulture, the winery specialises in Tempranillo, but also Viura and Malvasia as we see in this white blend. The combination of both Atlantic and Mediterranean climates around Haro, where the vineyards are based, aids the grapes in developing strong, expressive aromas. After blending, the wine spends 4 months in French and American oak, giving it a smooth, full-bodied texture. How does it taste? This wine is reminiscent of the most traditional styles of Rioja Blanco. It has aromas of pear, hints of fennel and a slight toastiness adding to the layers of creamy lemon flavours. The smooth, aromatic profile and crisp finish make it an excellent pairing for garlicky seafood such as prawns or paella.
