Product Description

Drink it now or cellar for up to 20 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. Located in the town of Katzrin, Golan Heights Winery was founded in 1983 by a collective of eight kibbutzim and moshavim. Today, the company produces some of the country's most iconic (and award-winning) wines. The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are sourced from vineyards located on the volcanic Golan Heights Plateau, a subregion of the Galilee appellation, considered one of the most suitable areas for high-quality viticulture in Israel. Here, the altitude, ranging from 400 to 1,200 meters, and the soils rich in volcanic basalt favor ideal conditions for the development and maturation of Cabernet Sauvignon, creating expressive and long-lived wines. After the harvest and vinification, overseen by winemaker Victor Schoenfeld, the wine was aged in French oak barrels (partly new) for a year and a half. In the glass, the wine reveals an intense and concentrated garnet red color with purple highlights at the rim. Its aromatic profile is broad and ripe with fragrant notes of cherry, blackcurrant, and plum, followed by earthy and herbal notes, cocoa, and tobacco. On the palate, it is robust and full-bodied, expressive and fruity, with a vibrant acidity that refreshes the palate and balances the overall flavor. The tannins are firm and well-integrated, and the finish is long and delicately spicy. Excellent with Lebanese-style roast lamb and rib-eye steak.
