Armenian wine isn’t something you often come across – yet Armenia is actually one of the world’s oldest winemaking countries. Art Armenia had a desire to revive the reputation of centuries-old Armenian winemaking. So, in 2006 they planted vines and built a winery, constructed from red tuff and inspired by unique Armenian architectural traditions. Today, they cultivate 11 European grape varieties across 85 hectares of vineyards in the southeastern tip of Armenia. The vines sit at 1,000 to 1,600m above sea level, bringing freshness and acidity to the grapes. Smooth and mellow, this ruby red wine is bursting with wild cherry, plum, pomegranate, blackberry, and delicate spice. Try it with chicken, cured meats, or cheese.
