Lukasi Saperavi 2022

Cellar for 15 years or more. Decant for up to an hour before serving. Lukasi Winery is a boutique cellar in the heart of Tbilisi, Georgia. It was founded in 2011 by Katevan Gersamia and Mamu Dolidze, a husband and wife duo who place a strong emphasis on quality over quantity and utilise a wide range of indigenous Georgian grapes in their work. The first vintage ever released by Lukasi was a Saperavi in 2013, which went on to win gold at the Georgian wine expo. The winery has been racking up awards ever since, winning medals at the Decanter Wine Awards and the International Wine Challenge. However, Lukasi winery has not only won the favor of critics, but also the admiration of the public. This Saperavi is a continuation of that original, award-winning vintage. Its rich nose is redolent of blueberry and blackcurrant, with strong oaky elements and hints of brown sugar and vanilla. It strikes a perfect balance between smoothness and mouth-drying tannicity on the palate and brings an excellent structure, suitable for long-term ageing. Upon sipping, the tongue is wrapped in flavours of ripe plum, blackberry and cherry, layered with earthy notes of chocolate and tobacco. Serve this wine at room temperature with bold meats, such as venison, roasted lamb or a steak.
