Product Description
Drink it now or cellar for up to 8 years. No need to decant, but best to open it half an hour before service. Founded in 2001 by Japanese winemaker Hiroyuki Kusuda in New Zealand's Martinborough wine region, Kusuda Wines is a small winery focused on the production of Pinot Noir, Syrah, and Riesling. The winery embraces a philosophy of sustainability, employing low yields, low-intervention winemaking, and minimal use of additives to ensure the pure expression of terroir and produce wines of exceptional quality that combine the character of Martinborough with the elegance and style of European wines. The Riesling grapes come from the cool vineyards of Martinborough, where the temperature range between cool nights and warm days creates ideal conditions for the full ripening of this variety and guarantees expressive wines with a crystalline and intense character. In the glass, the wine reveals a fresh and lively aromatic profile with notes of green apple, citrus, white peach, and lime zest, followed by floral hints of jasmine over a mineral undertone. On the palate, it is vibrant, pure, and supple, with a balanced texture and a pleasant fruit concentration. It is refined and juicy, with a well-defined minerality that lingers on the long finish. It is excellent enjoyed paired with spicy Asian recipes, but can also be cellared for a few years.
