Bokashi means fermented organic matter. The system uses bran activated with effective microorganisms and molasses. When sprinkled over food waste inside the sealed bucket, it promotes fermentation rather than rotting, allowing faster and cleaner processing of food scraps. How It Works - Step by Step Add cooked or uncooked food scraps to the bucket. Sprinkle Bokashi bran over each layer of food waste. Press down firmly to remove air pockets. Keep the lid tightly closed at all times. Drain liquid regularly using the tap. Once full, leave sealed for 2 to 3 weeks to complete fermentation. Before First Use - Installation and Setup Fit the drainage taps securely into the base of each bucket. Insert the separation trays inside each bucket. Fit the polystyrene blocks beneath the trays. Place a sheet of newspaper over each tray. Add a base layer of Bokashi bran and begin composting. No plumbing or electricity required. Suitable for use under a kitchen sink or in utility rooms.
