Product Description

Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. Located in the Stellenbosch wine region of South Africa, Catherine Marshall Wines is a micro-winery founded in 1997 and now run by Jono Oxenham, Catherine's son. The company, now known and acclaimed globally, selects grapes from various growers in the area. The Pinot Noir grapes (French Dijon clone 115) are selected from two parcels located in the Elgin Valley and one parcel in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. Here the vines enjoy a cool climate and soils composed of Table Mountain sandstone with siliceous quartz and Tukulu (a specific combination of sand and gravel). After vinification, the wine rests for 9-12 in used French barrels, before blending and bottling. Catherine Marshall Pinot Noir on Sandstone Soils is a Burgundian-style wine with a complex and elegant character. On the nose, it reveals a fresh and fruity aromatic profile with notes of blackcurrant and pomegranate, cherry, and small wild berries, followed by a mineral background. On the palate, it is broad and concentrated, fruity and juicy, consistent and lively with firm and velvety tannins. The finish is long and deliciously fruity. It is the perfect wine with pork fillet with truffles, or quail with porcini mushrooms.
