Rose & Rose Sauvignon Blanc 2024/25, Marlborough

This is a deliciously lively 100% Sauvignon Blanc from Malborough's Wairau Valley. In 1978 the Rose family became the first to grow grapes in what is now known as the Golden Mile. Originally Phil and Chris Rose were co-owners of a contract winemaking facility in partnership with three other wine companies. In 2002, driven by a desire to take full control over all aspects of production, they established the Rose Family Estate winery. Hot days and cooler nights add to the complexity of fruit grown in Marlborough, and the diurnal range of around 11 degrees during summer keeps acid levels high over long ripening times creating piercing fruit intensity and strong varietal expression. The eastern coastal aspect bestows cooling sea breezes and protective mountains give relief from extreme rain and wind. After blending, this wine is left to settle on light lees before bottling. It has intense lifted notes of ripe tropical fruits and citrus on the nose. Refined and elegant, the palate displays lively minerality with flavours of guava and stone fruit. Try it with fresh seafood, creamy seafood chowder, and Thai chicken curry.
