Bogle Petite Sirah 2021

Cellar for up to 6 years. No need to decant before serving. The Bogle family have been farming in Clarksburg ever since the 1870s when Civil War infantryman Captain AJ Boyle left his native Tennessee for California along with his nephew, Samuel. It wasn’t until the fourth generation, though, that the family began to grow grapes which were sold to local wineries. In 1978 the Bogles started making their own wine, with subsequent generations refining and expanding the winemaking operation. Today the winery is in the hands of the sixth generation, represented by siblings Warren, Jody and Ryan, who are keen to preserve the land in optimum condition for the generations of Boyles to come. This is why they are striving to meet the demanding California Rules for Sustainability requirements and achieving Certified Green status for their grapes. Petite Sirah was the very first grape planted on the family’s land by Warren Boyle in 1968, giving this wine a special place in the family’s portfolio. The wine is aged in American oak barrels for 12 months which adds smoky toast and hints of cedar to the ripe blueberry and dark cherry aromas and flavours. The rich taste and smooth mouthfeel of this wine make it an excellent partner for braised ribs or roast lamb.
