Tuvixeddu is one of the seven hills of Cagliari and holds centuries of history, ancient cults and mysteries, but, above all, it contains the largest Punic necropolis in the Mediterranean. Between the sixth and third centuries BC the Carthaginians chose the hill as a burial place, digging the tombs entirely in the rock. The site was later reused in Roman times. But what was the importance of the cult of the dead in the Punic era? How did customs, rituals and funeral practices change in the transition between the Phoenicians, the Carthaginians and the Romans?
