Product Description
Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant, but best to open it half an hour before service. Located in Santa Cruz, California, Birichino Winery was founded by Alex Krause and John Locke in 2008, after many years of experience as winemakers in the US and Europe. The Pinot Noir grapes come primarily from the Besson vineyard, with smaller amounts from the Rodnick, Enz, and Boer vineyards, all located in the Santa Cruz Mountains region. Here, the vines enjoy an altitude of 110 to 120 meters and a Mediterranean climate, and are rooted in decomposed limestone, dolomite, and granite soils. These conditions, along with the use of grapes from diverse plots, ensure the production of a characterful and balanced wine. After harvesting and fermenting in concrete tanks, the finished wine ages in neutral barrels for 10 months. The Birichino Saint Georges Pinot Noir is an elegant and harmonious wine with a fragrant and lively aromatic profile. On the nose, it reveals notes of ripe red fruits and wild herbs, followed by hints of game and sweet spices. On the palate, it is smooth, juicy, and delicately savory, with silky tannins and a long, fruity, refreshing finish. It is a wine that lends itself well to food pairings: try it with mushroom risotto, stuffed turkey breast, or even salmon.
