Product Description

Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. The origins of Georgian winery Bedoba date back to 1737, when it was founded by the Konchoshvili family. Today, the estate is in the hands of winemakers Nugzar Ksovreli and Thierry Fontannaz, who focus on the country's indigenous grape varieties, creating wines of great intensity and elegance. Saperavi grapes are hand-harvested from vineyards over 30 years old, located in the Kindzmarauli and Kvareli microzones on the southern slopes of the Caucasus Mountains in the Kakheti region. Here, the vines benefit from altitudes that are over 400 meters above sea level and black slate soils. These conditions favor the production of mineral wines with a good structure balanced by a lively freshness. After harvesting and fermenting partly in amphorae and partly in stainless steel tanks, the finished wine then ages in a mix of 225- and 5,000-liter barrels and terracotta amphorae (traditional Georgian qvevri). Bedoba Saperavi has a dark color with purplish hues. On the nose, it reveals an intense and ripe aromatic profile with notes of blackberry and dark forest berries, herbs, and spices. On the palate, it is rich and juicy with smooth tannins and a long finish reminiscent of spicy notes. It pairs deliciously with grilled red meats and herb-roasted pork.
