Product Description
Drink it now or cellar for up to 8 years. No need to decant, but best to open it half an hour before service. Strategically located on the slopes of Mount Etna in Sicily, Maugeri is a young and innovative winery founded when Renato Maugeri and his three daughters, Paola, Michela, and Carla, decided to reclaim and replant 7 hectares of old family vineyards. Carricante grapes are selected and harvested by hand from the terraces of the Praino district, on the eastern slope of Etna, at approximately 700 meters above sea level. The bush-trained vines enjoy an eastern exposure, facing the sea, and are rooted in sandy-clay volcanic soil, rich in minerals. After the harvest, 70% of the grapes are fermented in oak tonneaux and the remainder in steel. The finished wine then ages on the lees for 8 months. In the glass, the wine reveals a straw yellow color with bright golden highlights. Its aromatic profile is broad and lively, with notes of fresh fruit such as green apple and citrus, dried flowers, and ginger, over a balsamic undertone. On the palate, it is savory and mineral, crisp and refreshing with a soft texture and brisk acidity. The finish is long and recalls mineral and salty notes. Try it with oysters, sushi, and grilled white fish.
