In terms of mineral content, aquarium water is usually less than ideal for fish to live in compared to the water of their natural habitats. When living organisms cannot get the minerals necessary for their skeleton development then their reproductive and vital functions weaken, their development is slowed, their colors are dulled, and their health deteriorates.. For Tanganyika lake aquariums, add 4 g per 100 lt, and for Malawi & Victoria lake aquariums, add 2 gr per 100 lt, both on a weekly basis. (1 ml Salt African = ~ 1,2 gr.) Average dosages are determined based on the assumption that water is changed regularly. Since the composition of water may vary, its gH value should be monitored. It is recommended that the general hardness is kept in the range of 15-20 dgH for Tanganyika lake aquariums and 10-15 dgH for Malawi & Victoria lake aquariums.
