Such was the power of these men that common folk believed it was their swords that must have magic powers. Troubadours told stories of long past Knights who owned magic Broadswords, like Arthur of the Britons and his beloved 'Excalibur'. In myth and tale, a magic sword has often been broken by evil and must be mended by fairy folk so the young hero may prevail. Was it given to Arthur by the mystic 'Lady of the Lake', when he was already King, or was it the sword he pulled from the stone, proving he was the one destined to be King? A wonderful example of legend made real.
