Product Description
Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. No need to decant, but best to open it half an hour before service. Frank Cornelissen is a Belgian-born winemaker living in Sicily. He founded his winery in 2001, in Solicchiata, on the northern slopes of Mount Etna, and produces artisanal wines of excellent quality and character from his vineyards spread across micro-plots between 650 and 980 meters above sea level. Cornelissen's Munjebel Rosso is an artisanal wine made from Nerello Mascalese grapes. The grapes are hand-picked in the districts of Chiusa Spagnolo, Monte Colla, Porcaria, Crasa, and Piano Daini on the northern slopes of Etna, from bush-trained vines that are over 60 years old. The diverse grape origins ensure the production of an extremely balanced wine that combines power and elegance. Fermentation occurs spontaneously in fiberglass tanks, and the finished wine then ages for 18 months in fiberglass tanks. In the glass, the wine reveals a vibrant, deep ruby color and a broad, complex aromatic profile with notes of berries, Mediterranean scrub, spices, mineral hints, and citrus zest. On the palate, it is powerful, structured, fresh, and extremely elegant. It has a mineral character with savory notes and a long, fruity finish. Try it with spaghetti and meatballs, pasta alla norma, and roasted salmon.
