Product Description
Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. The Varvaglione family has been producing excellent Apulian wines since 1921, when it was founded by Cosimo Varvaglione. Today, this family-run business is managed by the fourth generation and owns approximately 150 hectares of vineyards. The family also purchases grapes from trusted local winemakers. The company, noted by the Financial Times as one of the 500 fastest-growing European companies in 2017, has an innovative and pioneering spirit while never forgetting its strong ties to the land and local winemaking traditions. The Primitivo di Manduria from the Cosimo Varvaglione line is produced with carefully selected Primitivo grapes, hand-picked from bush-trained vines in accordance with ancient family tradition. After harvesting and vinification at controlled temperatures, the finished wine ages for approximately 14 months in a blend of French and American oak. The result is a wine with a deep, intense color, featuring dark red tones and purple highlights. On the nose, it reveals an intensely fruity aromatic profile with hints of plum, blackberry, and black cherry, followed by spicy notes of vanilla and black pepper, and a hint of cocoa. On the palate, it is elegant, rich, and round, with velvety tannins and an intense concentration of ripe fruit. The finish is long and warm, with hints of cocoa. Try it with braised red meat, game, or aged cheeses.
