Product Description
Drink now or cellar for up to 15 years. Decant 1 hour before serving. Founded in 1996 by Sir Clifford Skeggs, Akarua is a family-owned boutique winery in the Bannockburn sub-region of Central Otago that ranks amongst New Zealand’s finest artisanal producers. Today the estate is run by Clifford’s three sons, David, Mark, and Andrew Skeggs, and has a reputation for producing premium Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines that reflect the unique terroir of the Central Otago region. The Siren is only made during the finest vintages from 100% Pinot Noir grapes that are handpicked and carefully selected to ensure the highest quality. The fruit is sourced from several estate vineyards in the Bannockburn sub-region of Central Otago. After vinification the young wine is aged in French oak barrels for 10 months which helps impart a complex and nuanced flavor profile. Luscious red cherry, plum and wild berries dominate on the nose, while the first sip reveals smooth tannins, a medium body and a solid core of ripe red fruit. This is a versatile gastronomic wine that pairs well with a variety of dishes including roasted meats, game, and strong cheeses. Ideal to enjoy now or to cellar for a few more years if desired.
