Abingdon Distillery Apple Brandy, 50cl

Made from 100% waste apples all hand picked by the distillery team from disused local orchards within a 10 mile radius of the distillery. Aged for at least 12 months in ex-Speyside whisky casks, this small batch orchard spirit captures the true terroir of Oxfordshire apples using over 16 varieties, including 20% cooking varities, 70% dessert varieties and 10% late harvest varieties.. The combination of different varieties give a pleasant crisp green apple tang up front, then the sweet flavours of apple crumble and toffee apple following on. The fermentation uses wild (instead of cultivated) yeasts which work their magic over a 2 week period before distillation. The clear apple eau-de-vie then rests in stainless tanks at full alcoholic strength for a month before going into the whisky casks.. An explosion of crisp green apple, soft caramelised apple tarte tatin on the palate backed up with a delicious oak toastiness, honey & spice.. This 2024 vintage release is limited to only 220 bottles.. Copper Pot Distilled. Abingdon Distillery distil all their spirits the traditional way using two copper pot stills.
