Product Description

Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. Founded in 1921 by Cosimo Varvaglione, the Apulian winery Varvaglione is located in Leporano, in the province of Taranto. The estate's vineyards extend over approximately 150 hectares, but the company also collaborates with trusted local winemakers to purchase grapes. Production focuses primarily on native grape varieties, maintaining a perfect balance between respect for tradition and a spirit of innovation. This wine is part of the Cosimo Varvaglione line, which represents the "personal reserve" of the winery's founder. The Negroamaro grapes, Salento flagship variety, are carefully selected and harvested. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature, and the finished wine is then aged for at least 6 months in French and American barrels. The result is an elegant and expressive wine with a deep, dark red color with purple highlights. On the nose, it reveals a complex aromatic profile with fruity notes of black cherry and blackberry, mulberry and plum, followed by toasted notes of tea leaves. On the palate, it is rich and round, concentrated and balanced with firm, well-integrated tannins and a long, slightly balsamic finish. Try it with grilled lamb chops, beef stews, or crispy pork belly.
