Product Description
Pedrera PD2 floor lamp – a classic reissued by manufacturer Gubi The Pedrera PD2 floor lamp is part of a series created in 1955 by designer Barba Corsini, which includes the PD2 floor lamp, a table lamp, a pendant light and a glass table. Corsini created the design as part of a commission to convert the attic of Casa Milá (also known as "La Pedrera" – the quarry), built by Antoni Gaudí in Barcelona, into 13 modern maisonette apartments. The cylindrical shape is inspired by the shape of the building's chimneys. In 1991, Casa Milá was renovated; gallery owner Joaquim Ruiz Millet came up with the idea of reviving the Pedrera series in a modernised version and contacted Barba Corsini. After revising the original designs, the Pedrera series was reissued and is now manufactured and distributed by the renowned Danish design company Gubi. The Pedrera floor lamp fits into a wide variety of interior designs. The light from the bulb is emitted vertically and gently through the tiny dot-shaped light outlets in the metal shade.
