Product Description
Cellar for 15 years or more. Decant for up to an hour before serving. The Burrowing Owl Cabernet Sauvignon is a vivid scarlet in the glass, with a generous nose of dark summer fruits, cocoa, dried herbs and orange peel. As the wine opens up, you will also detect notes of smoked meat and freshly baked dough. A gorgeous red wine from an unlikely location - British Columbia, Canada. Founded in 1997 by Jim Wyse, Burrowing Owl Estate Winery has been the recipient of multiple awards over the years. Gold medals at the Mundus Vini Spring Tastings and the National Wine Awards of Canada have cemented the winery’s place as one of the go-to destinations for quality Canadian wine. Heavily influenced by the Cascade mountain range, Burrowing Owl can be found on the northernmost tip of the arid, steppe terroir that makes British Columbia’s southern neighbour, Washington, such an important grape-growing location. This terroir reveals itself on the palate, with strong notes of graphite minerality, ripe flavours of blackberry, cherry and cassis, and an undercurrent of pungent spice. Aged in a mixture of French and Hungarian oak barrels, It is a dry, full-bodied wine with a long finish, driven by an oaky tannic structure. Consider drinking it alongside a tender rack of lamb, eggplant parmigiana, or meats seasoned with rosemary and thyme.
