Cellar for up to 7 years. Serve chilled. The Scotts have been making wine at Rutherford Ranch for over half a century and today the winery is run by the third generation of the family. Set just off the renowned Silverado Trail in Rutherford, the estate has a reputation for being one of California’s most sustainable wineries. The family opt to use natural treatments rather than chemicals wherever possible, including the reliance on natural predators to minimise the risk of pest damage. In 2017 the winery was named California Sustainable Winery of the Year thanks to these efforts. The Scotts specialise in robust Cabernets and creamy Chardonnays like this opulent bottling. Fruit is sourced from estate vineyards and the must is fermented in a combination of oak barrels and stainless steel tanks. This helps preserve the natural freshness and aromatics of the Chardonnay while also adding a rich, creamy texture and subtle toasty notes. Burnt caramel, vanilla and bright tropical fruit immediately burst out of the glass while the first sip reveals a rich, creamy texture, generous full body, and a bright streak of acidity which brings poise and elegance. The long finish and intense fruit flavours make this a great wine to pair with creamy chicken or fish dishes, leafy salads, or rich lasagna and aubergine parmigiana dishes.
