Product Description
Drink it now or cellar for up to 20 years. It is recommended to decant it for an hour. Founded in 1995 by Robert Mondavi and the Viña Errázuriz winery, Seña is located in Chile's Aconcagua Valley. In 2005, ownership of the winery, which encompasses approximately 42 hectares of vineyards, passed entirely to the Chadwick family, and the estate is now managed by Eduardo Chadwick. Rocas de Sena is a blend of mostly Malbec, with additions of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, and Petit Verdot. After careful selection and manual harvesting of the grapes, fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature to preserve the pure expression of the fruit. The finished wine then ages in French oak (65% new) for approximately 22 months, refining its texture and complexity. In the glass, the wine reveals an intense and deep color with purplish hues. Its aromatic profile is fragrant and layered, with notes of red fruits paired with Asian spices and coffee, followed by delicate balsamic hints. On the palate, it is rich and dense, soft and juicy, with a very refreshing acidity and a lively, ethereal character. The finish is long and recalls the balsamic notes perceived on the nose. It is an elegant and characterful wine, capable of aging well for a few years, but ready to be enjoyed now with a mixed grill of meats, or with pasta with game sauce.
