Product Description
Cellar for up to 5 years. Serve chilled. This characterful sparkling wine is predominantly composed of Turbiana, a local grape commonly grown on the shores of Lake Garda, as well as a small proportion of Chardonnay. Fruit is sourced from two estate vineyards, “I Frati” in Sirmione and “Ronchedone” in Desenzano del Garda, where the chalky clay soils are ideal for premium winemaking. The must is fermented partly in stainless steel tanks and partly in barrels followed by 24 months of ageing on the lees. On the nose there are uplifting notes of tropical fruit and fresh citrus while the first sip reveals a smooth texture and refreshing acidity. On the palate there are delightful hints of toasted brioche and almonds which linger on the finish. The original estate dates back to 1782, but the modern Ca dei Frati winery was founded in 1939 when Felice Dal Cero decided to start making wine here close to the southern shores of Lake Garda. Over the years the estate has proven the exceptional viticultural potential of the area and Ca dei Frati is now regarded as Lugana’s finest winery. In the past couple of decades quality has improved significantly and the winery now has 160 hectares of prime vineyards.
