Product Description
Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. No need to decant but best to open it an hour before service. Located in Santa Barbara, California, Belle Glos Winery was founded by Joe Wagner, who chose its name in homage to his grandmother, founder of Caymus Vineyards. The winery, now part of Copper Cane Wines & Provisions, produces a range of premium single-vineyard wines. Its bottles feature distinctive packaging with a wax seal that extends across the entire neck of the bottle. The Pinot Noir grapes come from a single vineyard located in the Santa Lucia Highlands appellation. The wine's name, "Balade" (which translates from French as "wandering"), reflects the work done every year to find the vineyard with the best expression of Pinot Noir for this wine. Harvesting is manual and takes place in the early hours of the morning to preserve the freshness of the aromas. After fermentation in stainless steel tanks, the finished wine ages for approximately one year in French oak barrels (60% new). Produced in limited quantities, this wine reveals an expressive and broad aromatic profile with notes of cherry, black raspberry, plum, and blackberry, followed by floral and spicey aromas and hints of cocoa. On the palate, it is juicy, bold, and supple with silky tannins and a lively, refreshing acidity. The finish is long, elegant, and concentrated. Excellent with roasted mushrooms or grilled duck breast.
