Trumpeter HMS Rodney Nelson Class Battleship Model Ship Kit New variant Single-piece hull made from two-directional slide moulds One-piece deck Accurately detailed guns Two Walrus Mk I aircraft Display stand Nine photo etched frets for handrails, ladders, radar parts, etc.  Dimensions: Length: 1082.5mm Width: 160mm  Total Parts: 1300+ 1:200 Scale With 1300 plus parts on 18 sprues, a one piece hull, a one piece deck, accurately detailed guns and eight photo etched brass frets for handrails, ladders, radar parts, etc., this kit will enable the production of a near 'museum-quality' model. Along with Nelson, the only sister ship and name member of the class, Rodney was built to the constraints of the Washington Naval Treaty. In order to pack in the 9 16" guns in three turrets, all were located forward of the bridge and the pair were very distinctive and very successful. It was, of course, Rodney that assisted KGV in the destruction of the Bismark. Starter Paint Pack Includes: 9 x 17ml Vallejo model paints. Vallejo paints are supplied in plastic bottles of 17ml with an eyedropper device which keeps paint from drying and prevents spills. The model color range has been specifically developed for adherence on difficult surfaces such as metal and plastic, but the product is not toxic, not flammable, and does not give off noxious fumes.  Please note: The paint packs offered are only our suggestion from the box art and will not match directly with the instructions found within the kit. Deluxe Materials Plastic Magic Cement 40 ml. Plastic magic cement is a thin liquid plastic cement with a 10-15 sec adjustment time & non-clog action. It is non-toxic, non-flammable with minimal odour and almost zero emissions when compared to competitors. A little history: HMS RODNEY was laid down at the Cammell Laird shipyard in Birkenhead on December 28th 1922, launched on December 17th 1925, and commissioned on November 10th 1927. Named after the 18th and 19th century British Admiral Rodney. During the Norwegian campaign of April 1940, RODNEY was hit by a 500kg bomb dropped by a German bomber, but was repaired and continued in service. In late 1940, RODNEY searched for but missed the German Pocket Battleship ADMIRAL SCHEER, following its sinking of JERVIS BAY. On May 27th 1941, RODNEY took part in action which resulted in the sinking of the German battleship BISMARCK, firing almost 380 rounds of 16-inch shells. From late 1941 through 1942, RODNEY was deployed to the Mediterranean as a convoy escort with sister ship NELSON. Following the invasion of Sicily in 1943, RODNEY was the first British battleship to enter Malta since 1940, and was active in the Salerno landing of September 1943. RODNEY was held in reserve at the Normandy landings of June 6th 1944, but from June 7th until July 9th 1944, RODNEY pounded the beachhead with more than 500 16-inch rounds and many hundreds of 6-inch and 4.7-inch shells. After the war ended in 1945, RODNEY was transferred to Reserve and sold for scrap in 1948.
